Day One: US Departure

Day Two: Athens

  • Athens - arrival and evening at leisure.

Day Three: Athens - Thessaloniki

  • Thessaloniki - named after the half-sister of Alexander the Great, where the Apostle Paul founded a church. See the Paleochristian and Byzantine Monuments of Thessalonika listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day Four: Thessaloniki - Philippi - Thessaloniki

  • Philippi - named after the father of Alexander the Great, where the Apostle Paul preached Christianity for the first time in Europe, established the first Christian church on European soil and baptized Lydia as the first Christian in Europe.

Day Five: Thessaloniki - Veria - Meteora (Kalambaka)

  • Veria - where Paul and Silas sought refuge after the accusation of treason in Thessaloniki. See the monument on the site where Paul preached to the local community.
  • Meteora - inhabited by hermit monks 1000 years ago, at one time more than 20 monasteries were scattered across the cliff tops. Although only six remain, they present a breath-taking sight. See Vaarlam and St. Stephen's Monasteries.

Day Six: Meteora - Delphi - Athens

  • Delphi - dwarfed on both sides by Mount Parnassus, the ancients believed this mountain terrace to be the centre of the universe. Walk the Sacred Way to the Sanctuary of Apollo, where the Oracle breathed her enigmatic prophecies, which dictated affairs of state, wars and personal relationships.

Day Seven: Athens - Piraeus (board ship) - Mykonos

  • Mykonos - mountainous island of white-washed houses, chapels and windmills.

Day Eight: Kusadasi, Turkey (Ephesus) - Patmos, Greece

  • Kusadasi - gateway to Ephesus
  • Ephesus - Roman provincial capital, where according to tradition the Virgin Mary spent her last days. St. Paul used Ephesus as a base for his evangelism and sent many epistles to the local community. See the House of Mary and the excavations of Ancient Ephesus - the Odeon, the Fountain of Trajan, the Temple of Hadrian, the Baths of Scholasitka and the Great Theater, where Paul preached.
  • Patmos - the 'Jerusalem of the Aegean', where St. John the Evangelist wrote the Book of Revelation in the Cave of the Apocalypse.

Day Nine: Rhodes

  • Rhodes - the 'Pearl of the Dodecanese', whose medieval city was founded by the Knights of St. John. Optional excursion to Lindos and the Temple of Athena.

Day Ten: Heraklion, Crete - Santorini

  • Crete - mythological home of Zeus and of the Minoan Civilization, one of the oldest in the world. Optional excursion to the excavations at Knossos.
  • Santorini - the 'Black Pearl of the Aegean' is a volcanic island and one of the most picturesque of all Greek islands. Optional excursions available.

Day Eleven -Piraeus (disembark ship) - Corinth - Athens

  • Corinth - where St. Paul lived for 18 months bringing the good news of Christianity. Later his letters to the Corinithians identified the challenges and joys of Christian life. See the spectacular Canal of Corinth and Temple of Apollo.
  • Athens - the cradle of western civilization and birthplace of democracy remains the heart of modern Greece, as its capital and seat of government. See the Acropolis, Parthenon, the Archeaological Museum and Royal Palace.
